10 years of anything, is nothing shy of a lifestyle. An ever growing tendency, habit, and development of character. The past decade has shaped me in many ways, and I made an effort to re-establish a different relationship w/ Red Room as of June 2019. This brought me the joyous opportunity to witness others create beautiful gatherings to inspire and be inspired through a myriad of artistic pursuits ; a story for the sake of feeling closer to someone, a stroke of colour upon a canvas (or face) for the sake of visual pleasure, and visceral connection. We use the word ‘community’ to unite, congregate, and play in a safe environment where motive is not in question, participation is essential, and listening is the most valued act of all.
Red Room is celebrating its 10th anniversary this coming weekend, and we aren’t entirely sure where it will ‘physically’ be after 2020, with new developments on venue potential, and the overall model of Red Room. We know one thing for sure, it’s an idea that has brought dozens, to hundreds, and at points thousands of us together to celebrate diversity, intimacy, and all the silliness one can fathom in a single evening.
I implore you to visit, even for a quick hello, as both days do not have entry fees. Day 1 will open us up to witness the vulnerable art of creation as painters paint from morning to late afternoon, and Day 2 includes musical performances, an early potluck dinner, and a storytelling session where we unwind to share many of the little tales from each of your Red Room experiences in the past decade.
Here’s an image from last years Art of Kua (跨) discussion, where we discussed the beauties and challenges of cultural integration, exchange and development within the Taipei & greater Taiwanese community.
with love,

ABTG6 10 year anniversary
Saturday was so fun and full of amazing energy. It was really cool that so many friends came to support. It is so awesome to paint with friends. I am happy with the auction and hope that you are too. I think Lou did an awesome job.
This event could not have happened without Marina, Cristina, Vasvi, Christiana, Constance and Carol. Thank you so much for all that you do.
