Cristina
Hi my name is Cristina Gonzalez, a 27 years old girl from Guatemala, I moved to Taiwan in 2018 to get my master’s degree. Besides being the 2nd child in a family of 3 I’m also a Graphic Designer and an artist. I started painting when I was 5 years old, inspired and influenced by a great artist, my grandmother (rest in peace). By her art I learned how a little bit of patience, few straws and combinations of colors could make a huge difference. Details are everything, not just in art but in life. She taught my mom and she taught me, to be inspired by those little things that give life meaning.
When I was 8 I got my first award from Taca Airlines, which gave me inspiration to continue my life as an artist. I had always been part of the creative groups, gallery visitors and street creativity. After all of this I decided that the best way to communicate for me was by graphics so I studied Graphic Design which gave me the chance to stay close to art and artists. During my entire life as an artist I have been trying to find my style, my tool of preference and palette. It has been a long path, but also a fun one. I tried different techniques and the ones that I felt the real challenge in are digital painting and watercolor, but what has my heart is oil since 2011. Before I came to Taiwan I challenged myself to finish a piece in 3 months (spending around 450 hours) with a size of 200×100 cm. This helped me decide that my art comes from organic and colorful things, not realistic technique touched with somber. And the path will continue because during this journey I have learned that everything changes, even myself.

Christiana
Christiana Chien
Born in Brazil, raised in Taiwan. Lived in Oxford & London, UK; Madrid, Spain; Singapore; Yangzhou, China; and New York City/Roanoke, VA in the US after graduating from FuJen Catholic University with a BA in Spanish. MA candidate in Applied Linguistics from Teachers College, Columbia University. A lil’ bit of an adrenaline junkie. Art has always been an indispensable part of Chris’s life, although there was a period of time in which she got so distracted by mere survival, she stopped creating. She’s finally finding her expressive voice back after having experienced some less than happy episodes of bottled up emotions, under the graceful encouragement of many fairy godmothers (ok, and godfathers). She knows these simple (but not simplistic) life experiences in different countries are turning into iridescent pearls, reflecting her heart and mind, which draw much inspiration from all her beloved friends, foes, and family.

The unpolished figures she captures reflect a raw energy that photography cannot replicate. She also wants to use different media to express her views on society and the environment.
