///Playing for Change Edition 音樂改變生命特別計畫///
Saturday’s Stage Time & Wine and Stage Time and Juice Playing for Change was a coming together of musicians for a good cause.
For the 9th year now, we were making beautiful noise to show our solidarity with the Playing For Change Foundation, and we hope to make a solid contribution, with the help of our fabulous and big-hearted community!
The Red Room Guitar Case (of abundance) was set out for donations, and we invited our favorite musicians (YOU) to busk on stage to earn tokens of the audience’s generosity.

Keeping English Theater Alive in Taiwan
by John Brownlei
Taipei Shorts –
Between the months of September and October over 350 flocked to Fu Jen University’s CFL theater to watch the second edition of Taipei Shorts: A Festival of Shorts. Ten original plays were showcased which were written and performed by local talent. This is Taipei Shorts second outing as a theatre collaboration, expanding on the playbill from their introduction at the Red Room in March 2019. Some of the highlights included were Barry Hall’s The Slot, a two person play with ex-lovers attempting to after a mistake, A T Beaune’s Flight 109, a beautiful physical theatre piece choreographed to Sandra Tavali’s music and words from William Shakespeare, Deni Carson’s Swipe Right, a comedy of two newly divorced men back in the world of dating. Also included were Esther Wainwright’s Culture Bleep, Emily Haver’s Little Moons, Shashwati Talukdar’s The Memory Stratagem, Chris Lanning’s Count Mount, William Chen’s Living in the Tube, and Mark Caltonhill’s A Gift from the Heavens.
John Brownlie, the creative director and producer, wants to keep English theatre at the forefront of Taiwan’s entertainment. With Red Room’s guidance and advice he hopes to continue doing that, with a third production in the works due early summer, 2020.
