As a tribute to Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue, Red Room brings you an evening of wine, good finger foods, jazz and charming company. Introducing wine in culture and deep listening to Jazz, whilst providing a venue for the up & coming jazz ensembles Taiwan’s young musicians are molding and shaping each year.

What is Kind of Red?
On the last Friday of each month, Red Room & PPF House collaborate with a sommelier, and a Taiwanese Jazz ensemble. Within a 3 hour spectrum, we savour different flavours, and spend the night actively listening to jazz.

Welcome all:
Writers, poets, photographers, painters, sculptors, comedians, filmmakers, juggler, musicians, songwriters, dancers, designers. All artists and creatives welcome! Develop and play with ideas, or utilize this opportunity for second opinions on your work in progresses.
If you won’t be working on something and just want to hangout, please feel free! But we would like to remind you to respect those practicing/working on their art form.

Arts activities we will provide this Sunday are: (This section changes monthly, depending on our current projects and desired curation)
– Self Serve Coloring Bar! Red Room Artists create coloring pages for you to bring to life! We will be printing pages of these, along with colored pencils, pastels, crayons, for your coloring pleasure. Did you know coloring is extremely beneficial to your mental and emotional health? It’s not just for kids!

– We will be drilling and roping a bamboo mug installation to be displayed permanently in the Red Room! This project is an ode to our Red Roomers over the years, and to the Master of Cups, Charles Haines. We will provide all supplies, come get crafty!

We will have a PRE-LOVED table set up. People can bring their still-good but cease-to-be-necessary items to donate for members of the community to treasure hunt through (Clothing and shoes are not accepted). We want to foster a culture valuing sustainability. Pricing is by donation, and proceeds go to support Red Room.
This is a free event – for you, by you. Which means that the bar and cash register will be closed – so please bring some beverages and snacks to share. Sharing is caring!
Please inbox us to ask if you are uncertain about how appropriate the art form/materials you’d be bringing would be suitable for the shared space. Of course, power tools are discouraged (safety + noise), and fire is not allowed on the premises (sorry, metal-workers!).

作家，詩人，攝影師，畫家，雕塑家，喜劇演員，電影製片人，魔術師，音樂家，曲作家，舞者，設計師。所有藝術和設計關的歡迎！也可以利用這個機會聽聽別人的意見，在次進步工作。
如果你不想工作的東西，只是想聚一聚，也是歡迎！但是我們想提醒你請尊重那些在修煉/他們的藝術形式的朋友，不要打擾到。
我們當天會提供兩種藝術活動：
－ 繪畫塗色 （材料提供）
－木工嘗試 （材料提供）
我們邀請藝術家來分享他們的作品，讓大家一起分析，交換想法。每個藝術家請不要帶超過1-2個作品，我們這樣才有時間讓大家有時間參與。
我們將有一個二手市場桌。大家可以將他們仍然不錯，但不再需要的家庭用品捐贈，讓社區朋友尋寶（不接受衣服，只有家庭用品）。我們要樹立一種重視可持續性的文化。定價是自由決定。
這是一個免費的活動 。酒吧和收銀機將被關閉 – 所以，請帶些飲料和小吃分享。共享是關懷！
如果你不確定你帶來藝術形式/材料如何適當的話，請你直接問。我們禁止用電動工具（安全+噪聲）及需要用火的工作（對不起，金屬工人！）。

Edgar Allan Poe, will be read aloud and accompanied by sound effects generated live using ordinary household items.
Musical background will further enhance the experience.

and Poe’s most famous narrative poem THE RAVEN, read by Thomas Bellmore and featuring a special guest artist, Mr. Charles Haines to illustrate the poem as it is being read.

Red Room is part of the greater Taipei and Taiwan community; it is our hope that we can help to bring the arts into the lives of all people. Red Room frequently works in coordination with other organizations to support socially important events. Visual Dialogues XI is a charitable art sale with all proceeds going to the Childhood Brain Tumor Association of Taiwan. We would like to invite you to the opening of this art event, featuring more than 15 artists. They have donated their art to be sold for the cause.

“My sister was diagnosed with a brain tumor and during her treatment, she felt that art was a great healer. She discovered that painting helped her through this difficult period. This is where the idea originated to hold a charity art show to help other children who are suffering from similar situation. We wish for each child to experience the joy of a happy and healthy childhood.”

The theme for this upcoming Aside….Nightmare failures. Have you ever noticed that the best success stories often begin with failure? Why are those embarrassing flops, setbacks or radical changes of direction seem like the “required” first steps on the road to fame and fortune?
Here are some examples of famous “Nightmare Failures”:
Stephen King‘s first horror novel Carrie was rejected 30 times and thrown in the trash before becoming the prelude to hundreds of successful published books.
Ang Lee failed Taiwan’s college entrance exams – twice. He tried to go to acting school, but they said his English wasn’t good enough. Unemployed for 6 years living off of his wife’s salary, he had a bank balance of US $26 at the birth of their second child.
Thomas Edison was told he was “too stupid to learn anything” and it was only after 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing a light bulb that he finally succeeded.
Jack Ma failed his exit exams several times in elementary & middle school; failed college entrance exams 3 times; applied to Harvard 10 times and was rejected every time. Out of 24 people who applied for KFC when they entered China, he was the only one rejected. Out of 5 people who applied for a job on the police force, he was the only one rejected. His first 2 business ventures failed and then came Alibaba …zero revenue for the first 3 years.

Leigh Ann Phillips is an award-winning singer, songwriter, sound healing practioner, lecturer and teacher from Hawaii. Leigh Ann will be in Taipei for one day only, sharing her gift of healing sounds.
The Shimmering Sounds Collection of crystal bowls that Leigh Ann has personally created are just some of the tools that can assist all of us in the powerful process of expansion and healing. For many years Leigh Ann has aligned with the mentorship of Dr Mitchell Gibson and his wife Archarya – www.tybro.com they gave permission for Leigh Ann to use specific mandalas that have purposefully been etched onto the crystal bowls in The Shimmering Sounds Collection, they are visually unique with a specific purpose or the three things that most of us want to improve in our life – health, relationships and finances.
