The Red Room is an ever-expanding community, exploring and extending the boundaries between audience and performer; a not-for-profit platform for events developing a culture of learning to listen to each other, what is around us, and our selves.

SYNOPSIS

HUMAN is a collection of stories and images of our world, offering an immersion to the core of what it means to be human. Through these stories full of love and happiness, as well as hatred and violence, HUMAN brings us face to face with the Other, making us reflect on our lives. From stories of everyday experiences to accounts of the most unbelievable lives, these poignant encounters share a rare sincerity and underline who we are – our darker side, but also what is most noble in us, and what is universal. Our Earth is shown at its most sublime through never-before-seen aerial images accompanied by soaring music, resulting in an ode to the beauty of the world, providing a moment to draw breath and for introspection.

Stage Time and Juice XIX: Playing For Change Fundraising Event
Time: SUNDAY, Sept. 4, 2016 2:30-4:30 PM
ACTIVITIES:
1. Open-Mic Time!
Bring an instrument or song, and share it with us, this time for a good cause! Each time slot is limited to 5 minutes. There is a limited number of slots available so we recommend pre-registering by commenting in the appropriate thread in this event.
2. Learn About Different Musical Styles!
Sue DeSimone invites her musician friends to jam on the stage, introducing the Stage Time and Juice family to a variety of musical styles. (Rock, country, blues and rockabilly) Keep your eyes on the event postings for updates!
3. Raffle!
Many community members have come forward to provide raffle prizes. All money from raffle tickets will go to the Playing For Change Foundation.
4. Donate!
We will provide a box for extra donations.
5. Potluck!
Bring a bottle of juice or a snack to share with our friends and musicians.
THE CAUSE: The Playing For Change Foundation supports music education programs for children in areas that are rich in cultural traditions but limited in economic resources. Programs are free to children and provide instruction in vocals, dance, instruments, and musical theory. For many, it is the first and only opportunity they would have to learn music, for some, it is their first opportunity to attend school of any kind.

Welcome all:
Writers, poets, photographers, painters, sculptors, comedians, filmmakers, juggler, musicians, songwriters, dancers, designers. All artists and creatives welcome! Develop and play with ideas, or utilize this opportunity for second opinions on your work in progresses.

If you won’t be working on something and just want to hangout, please feel free! But we would like to remind you to respect those practicing/working on their art form.

Arts activities we will provide this Sunday are: (This section changes monthly, depending on our current projects and desired curation)

– Painting the blank canvas that is our bookshelf, which will be used in the “Red Room Nook”, a corner of Red Room which serves as a reading haven. (Anyone is welcome! Please wear something you don’t mind getting paint on, just in case)

We will have a PRE-LOVED table set up. People can bring their still-good but cease-to-be-necessary items to donate for members of the community to treasure hunt through (Clothing and shoes are not accepted). We want to foster a culture valuing sustainability. Pricing is by donation, and proceeds go to support Red Room.

This is a free event – for you, by you. Which means that the bar and cash register will be closed – so please bring some beverages and snacks to share. Sharing is caring!

Please inbox us to ask if you are uncertain about how appropriate the art form/materials you’d be bringing would be suitable for the shared space. Of course, power tools are discouraged (safety + noise), and fire is not allowed on the premises (sorry, metal-workers!).

如果你不想工作的東西，只是想聚一聚，也是歡迎！但是我們想提醒你請尊重那些在修煉/他們的藝術形式的朋友，不要打擾到。

我們當天會提供兩種藝術活動：

– 我們這次會把紅房的書櫃變得更有特色－用繪畫把故事展現出來。 （歡迎任何人！請穿你不介意讓漆弄髒的衣服，以防萬一）

我們邀請藝術家來分享他們的作品，讓大家一起分析，交換想法。每個藝術家請不要帶超過1-2個作品，我們這樣才有時間讓大家有時間參與。

我們將有一個二手市場桌。大家可以將他們仍然不錯，但不再需要的家庭用品捐贈，讓社區朋友尋寶（不接受衣服，只有家庭用品）。我們要樹立一種重視可持續性的文化。定價是自由決定。

這是一個免費的活動 。酒吧和收銀機將被關閉 – 所以，請帶些飲料和小吃分享。共享是關懷！

如果你不確定你帶來藝術形式/材料如何適當的話，請你直接問。我們禁止用電動工具（安全+噪聲）及需要用火的工作（對不起，金屬工人！）。

What is Kind of Red?

On the last Friday of each month, Red Room & PPF House collaborate with a guest chef, sommelier, story tellers, and a Taiwanese new generation Jazz ensemble. Within a 3 hour spectrum, we invite our guests to a wine tasting exploring the stories behind how wine has shaped our modern world. For every sip, a food pairing, and for every nibble, a story. The remainder of the evening is spent actively listening to jazz.
