Reflections July 2014

From Matt Nicodemus:

Hey, all! Splendiferous, as always, to be with you this past Saturday evening. Was that #57, Trevor? I think that’s what you said. Blowwwwww me away! And everyone, as I said at the end of my sharing, be aware and appreciative of what an amazing, unique thing we’ve got going with Red Room. More than fifty consecutive months of
Community,
Consciousness,
Courage,
Creativity,
Connectedness,
Calm,
Collaboration,
Compassion,
and way Cool —
and that’s just the Cs!

Here are the two books I recommended to everyone:
Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey into the Afterlife, by Eben Alexander, M.D. (Simon & Schuster, 2012)
Words Will Break Cement: The Passion of Pussy Riot, by Masha Gessen (Riverhead Books, 2014)

Matt Nicodemus hosted an event at TAV at the start of this month for an open jam session. Follow Matt Nicodemus on FB for more of his upcoming sessions.

From Trevor Tortomasi
Host, Stage Time & Wine (July 2014)

The first time I attended Red Room’s “Stage Time & Wine”, if someone had told me I would be hosting it someday, I wouldn’t have believed them – but it’s been two years since my first time attending, and the people I’ve met through this community have helped me grow in ways I couldn’t have imagined. On my first night two years ago, I wondered how I could become a poet or a storyteller. Two years later, I often find myself thinking about how to become a better poet and storyteller than I already am.

To be honest, I’m still getting used to it. My personality isn’t as naturally calm and collected as that of our original host – but my goal is to be myself in a way that makes each month’s guests feel welcome and comfortable… because I want people to realize that if I can do it, they can, too.
