RED ROOM RADIO REDUX will present a staged radio-theater- style production of TREASURE ISLAND, the Robert Louis Stevenson classic story of pirates and buried treasure, for three performances on:
Friday May 13 at 8:00 PM
Saturday May 14 matinee at 2:30 PM***
Saturday May 14 at 8:00 PM.
The performance will last approximately one hour.
紅坊廣播劇場會帶來舞台電台戲劇風格的演出金銀島，是羅伯特·路易斯·史蒂文森經典海盜藏寶故事，
演出時段分別是5月13日(五)晚上20:00、5月14(六)下午14:30以及晚上20:00共三場，演出時間約一個小時。

Treasure Island is the tale of young Jim Hawkins, who sets sail in 1783 as a cabin boy on the schooner Hispaniola, in search of treasure hidden on a faraway island. In the course of his adventures, he comes across a motley assortment of devious seaman, including the infamous buccaneer Long John Silver. This production of Treasure Island will appeal to adults as well as children aged 8 and up.
The performance of Treasure Island will be in English, in an adaptation that draws extensively on the original language of the story. It will be presented as a radio-style staged reading in which the actors use voice, characterization and gesture, as well as live sound effects and music, to recreate a lively tale in the minds of the audience.

At R4, we believe that through this “theater of the imagination,” we can promote a culture of live storytelling and creative listening through the great works of literature. Come join us with a heart of adventure and a mind of exploration as we sail into the deepest oceans of our imagination!

金銀島是一個青年賀詹姆(Jim Hawkins)的故事，從伊斯帕尼奧拉島揚帆啟程，在航程中找尋隱藏在遙遠島嶼的寶藏。在冒險的過程中，他遇到一群狡猾奸詐混雜的航海人，包含了最有名的海盜，單腳西渥弗(Long John Silver)。
紅坊廣播劇場會用英文演出金銀島，從原語的方式帶出延伸的效果。會用電台的效果來呈 現每一位角色的說詞，個性特色和手勢比劃，搭配著現場聲音效果以及配樂，重新帶出原 始故事的感覺給觀眾們。紅坊廣播劇場要將這樣獨特的表演方式，一種戲劇的想像的方式 獻給觀眾，透過分享偉大文學巨作和表達文化特色的現場說故事效果。
金銀島演出適合大人到8歲以上小孩。會有個簡單的詩詞作為開場，來自路易斯·卡羅爾的 愛麗絲夢遊仙境。會將音樂和聲音強化，來優化重述史蒂文森的知名故事。

活動主旨
馬來西亞的音樂圈依然還在發展,雖然不如台灣或是大陸來得盛行,但是還有
音樂創作人繼續走在音樂的道路上,也不斷有人在推動音樂風氣的發展。像是馬來西
亞的獨立音樂圈年度盛會《動態度音樂節》,讓更多人發現馬來西亞獨立音樂創作人
的存在。又或是近年出現的《JUST PLAY 簡單玩》巡演、《居鑾在動》等等,為了團
結唱作人、創作人、甚至是藝文工作者,在沒有掙扎利益與行銷、媒體的偏見或是強
勢的商業集團壓榨下,實踐分享藝術的舞台
音樂創作不應該是獨自躲在房間裡彈彈唱唱,而應該是站在舞台上將作品呈現
個聽眾。第二屆馬來西亞旅台藝術節將範圍縮小在詞曲創作裡,提供馬來西亞旅台留
學生一個發表音樂創作的平台,藉此也讓創作者擁有互相交流的機會。
活動主題
“Music make world unite”.
音樂分門別類多樣化,這都是因為後人或是唱片公司的系統化。
但是音樂也是一種語言,讓各地的人能透過語言來溝通,了解彼此,分享心情。
我們能為音樂感動,也為音樂瘋狂。
雖然我們在台灣留學,但是心繫大馬。我們關心馬來西亞的一切。
“零距離”代表的是我們的音樂,也代表我們的心。

Event Mission
Malaysia’s music scene is developing, and though it is not yet as bustling as the Taiwanese and Chinese industries, there are many music creators following their musical paths and many others pushing the development of music evolution. For instance, Malaysia’s annual independent music event “Dongtaidu Music Festival” helps raise awareness for independent music producers from Malaysia. Or, more recently, events such as “JUST PLAY Music Tour” and “Kluang Rocking” have created a platform for singers, writers, and art practitioners to cooperate without profit pressure, media bias, or industry exploitation.
Music creation should not just be a mere hobby hidden away in a bedroom, but fully manifested as an on-stage performance sharing work with an audience. The 2nd annual Malaysia Art Festival in Taiwan will – through the platform of song and lyric writing – provide a platform for Malaysian exchange students in Taiwan to create and interact.
Event Theme
“Music make world unite”.
Music has been split into different categories and genres all because of the systemization implemented by outsiders and record labels.
But music is also a language that allow people everywhere to communicate, to understand each other, and to share their feelings.
We can be moved by music, and we can be driven to a frenzy by music.
Although we are studying in Taiwan, but our hearts are tied to Malaysia. We care deeply for Malaysia and everything about it.
“Zero distance” represents our music, but also our hearts.

What does it mean to constantly seek new visions, to extend beyond normal boundaries and to step boldly down that ‘road less traveled’. Unbounded passion is the driving force behind their actions and growth as artists and human beings.

About Aside:
Aside derives its name from the theatrical term of “taking an aside,” where characters break the fourth wall to address the audience directly with their insight, secret aspirations, and original perspectives.
The presenters at Aside are individuals who have found inspiration in their craft and in turn have shared their inspiration with us. They utilize their discipline to communicate with creativity and breach the gap between artist and audience.

「旁白在紅房」得名於 “taking an aside” 之戲劇術語，表示表演者為了以較直接的方式表達他們的真知灼見和獨特的觀點而打破隔離觀眾與舞台的隱形屏障。
本活動的表演者靠著精湛的技藝取得靈感，進而與我們分享他們的成果。他們並利用紀律與創造力來銜接藝術家與觀眾之間的差距。

To those of you that we at Red Room have had the pleasure of hosting these past few months, you’ve probably seen the cool collection of apparatus scattered around our indoor and outdoor space… Listened to the tinkling of soft running water, surveyed the graceful patterns of the fish living in handmade structures, put your noses up to examine the baby vegetables and herbs sprouting from suspended soil beds.
What is aquaponics?!

We’re so excited to announce that our good friends at Aquaponics Innomaker, the geniuses behind our favorite additions to the Red Room space, will be holding workshops to share with the public everything from the benefits of using to how to make your very own Aquaponics system!! This workshop will be the first of many.. so get ready!

Red Room Radio Redux (R4) invites you to spend an evening reading aloud and listening to others-
On the fourth Friday of each month, all are welcome to bring a story, a poem, quotation or even a joke you’d like to read – or hear – aloud.
You may choose to read something you wrote or a favorite piece of poetry or prose. (roughly 10 min limit, depending on the number of readers).
Constructive criticism will be offered – a great opportunity to improve your public reading skills.
We will announce a theme each month but it is considered a suggestion, only.
Please bring a snack and/or a beverage to share. Wine will be on sale by the glass.
All languages and all levels of experience are welcome. No microphones, no special effects. No competition. Guaranteed moral support.

Red Room presents the second of our Sunday Afternoon Open Studio series!!
Sunday, April 17 at 2 PM – 5 PM
The flow of everyone working simultaneously in community spirit weaves beautifully, and we’d like for you to bring anything you’re working on and share in the Red Room space to create together!
Welcome all:
Writers, poets, photographers, painters, sculptors, comedians, filmmakers, juggler, musicians, song-writers, dancers, designers. All artists and creatives welcome! Develop and play with ideas, or utilize this opportunity for second opinions on your work in progresses.
If you won’t be working on something and just want to hangout, please feel free! But we would like to remind you to respect those practicing/working on their art form.
Two arts activities you we will provide this Sunday are:
– Painting abandoned water tanks in neon paint. (Anyone is welcome! Please wear something you don’t mind getting paint on, just in case)
– A 5-minute-portrait sketching activity! (We will provide some pencils and paper, but please bring your own sketchbook if you’d like. Guests will be divided up into groups of 6 or put on rotation)
We will have a PRE-LOVED table set up. People can bring their still-good but cease-to-be-necessary items to donate for members of the community to treasure hunt through (Clothing not accepted, household items only). We want to foster a culture valuing sustainability. Pricing is by donation, and proceeds go to support Red Room.
This is a free event – for you, by you. Which means that the bar and cash register will be closed – so please bring some beverages and snacks to share. Sharing is caring!
Please inbox us to ask if you are uncertain about how appropriate the art form/materials you’d be bringing would be suitable for the shared space. Of course, power tools are discouraged (safety + noise), and fire is not allowed on the premises (sorry, metal-workers!).

如果你不想工作的東西，只是想聚一聚，也是歡迎！但是我們想提醒你請尊重那些在修煉/他們的藝術形式的朋友，不要打擾到。
我們當天會提供兩種藝術活動：
– 繪畫廢棄水箱用霓虹燈的油漆。 （歡迎任何人！請穿你不介意讓漆弄髒的衣服，以防萬一）
– 5分鐘畫面相的繪畫活動！ （我們會提供一些鉛筆和紙，但請帶自己速寫本，如果你願意的話。客人將被分成6組或旋轉交換）
我們將有一個二手市場桌。大家可以將他們仍然不錯，但不再需要的家庭用品捐贈，讓社區朋友尋寶（不接受衣服，只有家庭用品）。我們要樹立一種重視可持續性的文化。定價是自由決定。
